Tom
Simon, President & Executive Producer
As a filmmaker, executive producer and television
executive, Tom has been responsible for some of the world’s
top-rated documentary programs and has won seven Emmy awards. His
years of experience in all facets of film and tv production is brought
to bear on every project we undertake.
Prior
to founding Working Dog, Tom served for ten years as vice-president
of programming and production, and executive producer of the National
Geographic Specials and National Geographic Explorer. Before joining
National Geographic, he was Senior Producer of Smithsonian World
on PBS.
He
has also been an independent producer and consultant. He produced,
directed and wrote programs such as Inca: Secrets of the Ancestors,
part of Time-Life's Emmy-winning Lost Civilzations series on NBC.
Earlier in his career, Tom was a freelance producer-director of
documentaries for NBC and WNET and staff producer for cinema verite
pioneers Albert and David Maysles.
Programs
he executive-produced have received over 150 awards for excellence
including a Dupont-Columbia Journalism Award, Peabody Awards and
over three dozen Emmys.
Linda Patterson, Coordinating Producer/Finance Manager
Since 1998 Linda has been overseeing our finance
and operations. She is knowledgable in all areas of production and
rights management and prepares all our budgets and closely tracks
costs. Previously, she worked as coordinating producer on ABC's
Dangerous World: The Kennedy Years and the PBS series America on
Wheels. Her production credits also include Sex and Other Matters
of Life and Death for WNET, Degenerate Art for PBS and the Emmy
award winning PBS series, Healing and the Mind with Bill Moyers.
Dawn
Brown, Associate Producer
Upon graduating from New York
University’s Department of Dramatic Writing, Dawn began doing
research & development for documentary projects as a freelancer.
She started out as an intern and eventually became the production
coordinator for the Emmy-winning series “Classic Baby” for HBO. At
Working Dog, Dawn has worked as an associate producer on two
episodes of “Biography” for A&E and on “The Adirondacks” for PBS.
David
Pontillo, Associate Producer
After graduating from Ithaca College in 2006 with a degree in cinema
and TV production, David moved to New York City and quickly began to
build his resume. His credits include “Fox New Years Eve Live
2007” , NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” and HBO’s “Alive Day Memories:
Home From Iraq.” David first came to Working Dog in March of 2007,
where he continues to work on “The Adirondacks” for PBS and
“Provocateur” for HBO.

For each project, Working Dog brings together
the best, brightest and most experienced producers, editors, writers
and graphic artists in the business. Many of our freelancers have
been working with us since we first opened our doors. Every show
we make benefits from their expertise and the hands-on supervision
of our senior staff. With in-depth expertise in story development,
production management, field production and finishing, each Working
Dog show brings to the screen compelling story-telling, engaging
characters and the highest production values.
What
We’ve Got
From our loft overlooking the Hudson River,
we’re just 30 minutes by car from midtown Manhattan and a
short walk from the Metro-North train station. Our sandy beach and
stunning view of the Palisades has served as a location for reenactments
of everything from Conquistadors landing in the New World to early
Christians receiving baptism in the Holy Land.
Inside,
our facilities include spacious offices, three Avid editing editing
systems, HDV and DVCAM camera packages, and complete sound and lighting
kits. No project is too large or too small; we’ve produced
programs ranging from four-minute films to 13-part series. |
